BC Real Estate Foundation Partnering Fund

The Office of Research and Graduate Programs is pleased to announce the sixth competition of the BC Real Estate Foundation Partnering fund, a UNBC funding program supported by an endowment originating with the Real Estate Foundation of BC. We invite applications to support research, co-funded by non-UNBC partners, that focuses on advancing practices for the use and conservation of land with a view to enhancing the social, economic and environmental well being of northern communities.

The deadline for receipt of applications, including partner commitments, by the Office of Research is March 26, 2010. The committee’s decisions on adjudicating the applications will be announced by mid April, 2010.
By way of additional guidance for applicants, the endowment fund generates approximately $35,000 - $45,000 per year. Over the past years the committee has funded 37 projects and dispensed more than $150,000 at an average award of $7,780 per application. The committee has received requests for funding in excess of $300,000. Although the committee has received requests for multi-year funding, thus far it has not awarded any multi-year projects.
The committee encourages applications from graduate and undergraduate students but emphasizes that, because of the partnering requirement for this funding, a strong student application is one which is fully supported by the student’s supervisor.
