Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS) Graduate Fellowships are available on an annual basis to outstanding Masters and PhD students at the four collaborating universities (UVic, UBC, UNBC and SFU). Fellowship holders will conduct research in an area related to the main functions of the Institute, which are primarily directed toward issues of key importance to British Columbia. The amounts are $12,000/yr. for Masters and $18,000/yr. for PhD students.
The main objectives of PICS are:
- Understanding the magnitude and patterns of climate change and its impacts;
- Evaluating their physical, economic and social implications;
- Assessing mitigation and adaptation options and developing solutions;
- Evaluating and strengthening educational and capacity-building strategies to help address climate change;
- Communicating climate change issues and solutions to government, industry and the general public.
The guidelines and application form for Graduate Fellowships are attached but are also available on the PICS website: http://www.pics.uvic.ca/fellowships.php
